4th Anniversary

This week marks our fourth anniversary as a charitable trust, providing a wide range of well-being services to promote healthy lifestyles to communities across Blaenau Gwent.

Originally created in 2014 to deliver Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council’s leisure services portfolio, we’ve been working with multiple partners and private sector organisations to make a positive impact to people’s lives by not only improving physical health and well-being, but also their mental and social well-being through our diverse range of services which include sport and fitness, culture, community learning and hospitality.

This year has seen some great successes throughout the Trust, including a commendation of our libraries as the best in Wales in terms of customer outcomes and the delivery of the Working Skills for Adults 2 project, which is backed by £2.7 million EU funding through the Welsh government and in partnership with our neighbouring local authorities to help 1,700 individuals gain new skills leading to improved job security and career prospects in the next three years.

Our ambition for the next four years is to be a pivotal organisation leading a preventative approach to tackling well-being issues across Blaenau Gwent and making a positive impact across the Heads of the Valley region. Our services already provide a key enabling role for children and families to be both physically and socially active throughout their lives, but we aim to do more to encourage our communities as a whole to embrace healthy lifestyle choices.
