The Aneurin Leisure Inspire Volunteer Awards evening recently took place at Bedwellty House & Park, Tredegar, offering an evening of recognition to volunteers from all over Blaenau Gwent.

The awards ceremony, organised by our very own group of Young Ambassadors, were held to celebrate the fantastic work being done by young people in Blaenau Gwent, who inspire others whilst delivering and promoting sports and activities throughout the community.

Throughout the evening awards were given out for outstanding contributions from volunteers and clubs in the Inspire Sports programmes, while 76 year old Dorothy Penny MBE also received an Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of being an active volunteer since setting up the Gwent Valley Sports Club for the Disabled over forty years ago.

Guest Speaker for the evening was inspirational Paralympian athlete Nathan Stephens, who shared some insight into his sporting journey and achievements with the assembled audience.
