Scott Morris 1

Congratulations to Scott Morris, from our Inspire Sports Development team, for successfully completing his fundraising challenge of 7 Olympic distance triathlons over 7 days to raise money for Neuroblastoma UK.

The challenge took place across our three Sports Centres at Abertillery, Ebbw Vale and Tredegar, with the final finish line at Ebbw Fawr Learning Community Primary Phase.

Each intensive Triathlon consisted of a 1500 metre swim, 24 mile bike ride and a 10 kilometre run – which means that over 7 days Scott swam 10,500 metres, cycled 168 miles and ran 70 kilometres!

Scott undertook the challenge in memory of a little girl called Eva, and this is her mother’s story…

"My beautiful little girl Eva (known fondly as Eva Diva) was diagnosed in February 2016 (age 6) with a rare aggressive children’s cancer, called Neuroblastoma which was located in her abdomen.

Neuroblastoma is the second most common solid tumour in children, with around 100 children in the UK diagnosed each year.

Her battle with this aggressive form of cancer lasted 15 months. Eva's strength was incredible and she never complained. After numerous rounds of chemotherapy, major surgery and radiotherapy, Eva's cancer could not be cleared from her bone marrow and she developed secondary tumours throughout her little body. She was sadly taken from us in May 2017 when she lost her battle, but her strength, courage and humour will never be forgotten."
