Blog Post from MD Anthony Hughes - Exciting Developments at Ebbw Vale Library
I’m pleased to report that Ebbw Vale Library is now in the final stages of modernisation and will soon be opening its doors once again to the public.
There has been a two phased approach to the funding, with a Welsh Government Museums and Libraries grant and a contribution from the Welsh European Funding Office Convergence Programme, allowing the library to benefit from improved disabled access, a re-designed IT suite, a new community room and a complete internal re-fit, designed by library specialists Innova.
Ebbw Vale Library will have a modern feel, without losing the traditional features of the historic building, with a mix of old and new. The refurbishment will transform service delivery at Ebbw Vale, enabling greater community involvement, improved IT facilities and providing an opportunity to increase our partnership work with a wide range of organisations.
This is exciting news for library services in Blaenau Gwent, a fully refurbished library at Ebbw Vale will play a vital role in supporting the community. It will provide a valuable, multipurpose community space, with something for everyone and will enable us to transform the library, making it relevant to the community today, having a huge potential to change lives.
While Ebbw Vale Library has been undergoing refurbishment, we have operated a temporary library within Ebbw Vale Learning Action Centre which has provided a range of stock and services for our customers.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support and patience while we work to refurbish the facilities at Ebbw Vale Library.
