International Volunteers Day 2024

Today we are celebrating International Volunteers Day by saying a huge thank you to all our volunteers across all Aneurin Leisure Trust’s venues, who’s invaluable support for the Trust allows us to continue fulfilling our mission of 'improving community life' for all visitors and our communities across Blaenau Gwent.

There are many opportunities to become a volunteer within the Trust, whatever your skills or interests, there is probably a volunteering role waiting just for you!

  • Sports Development - Our team manages a robust and progressive volunteer pathway for children and young people living in Blaenau Gwent. There is an abundance of voluntary opportunities made available in school, community and sport-specific settings.

  • Bedwellty House & Park - Community volunteers help to maintain the kitchen garden, planting a variety of seasonal vegetables, and taking care of them until harvest. The Friends of Bedwellty Park also look after the Sensory Garden, which they planned and developed, as well as planting and maintaining the flower beds near the main gates.

  • Parc Bryn Bach - A weekly volunteer day allows visitors to help maintain and improve the biodiversity of the park, which is a designated Local Nature Reserve and a Green Flag award-winning greenspace. Volunteers work alongside the park’s grounds team, Blaenau Gwent Council’s Ecologist and Countryside Rangers and in partnership with Groundworks Wales on a range of supervised activities.

  • Libraries - Our library service provides opportunities for community volunteers to support visitors to our libraries, with any queries they may have, sourcing and finding books and helping with the day-to-day operations.
