Libraries Week 2023

Discover how we are celebrating libraries week 2023 at libraries across Blaenau Gwent and inspiring learning for all.

Libraries Week is a week-long celebration of the nation’s much-loved libraries and showcases the best that libraries have to offer.

This year’s theme is Green Libraries, and from 2nd – 8th October 2023 we will be encouraging our communities to continue working towards being more sustainable and to support the climate action cause.

Throughout the week we will be encouraging our users to never stop learning through a variety of events to engage the local community, with FREE activities provided throughout our libraries, including:

  • Treasure Hunts at all our Libraries from 2nd - 7th October

  • Save the Planet Craft Session at Brynmawr Library – Monday 2nd October at 3.30pm

  • Save the Planet Craft Session at Abertillery Library – Saturday 7th October at 11am

Each of our libraries will also have book displays on topics such as climate change, sustainability, ecology and the environment.

Tracy Jones, Library Services Manager said, “We have a brilliant programme of activities during Libraries Week that we hope will bring the community together and find out more about all the ways the library empowers life-long learning. We are also hoping to encourage our visitors to think about sustainability and how we can each take steps to help tackle climate change.”
