Following the Welsh Government’s announcement regarding the new restrictions facing the Welsh public from 24th December 2020 we would like to provide the following service updates for our venues:
Libraries
All our libraries will close on Christmas Eve and then reopen from Monday 4th January for a Call & Collect service only – browsing and computer sessions will not be available as per Welsh Government guidelines.
Library members can contact their local library, let them know what they would like to borrow, and then arrange a day and time to collect their order.
Learning Action Centres
All our Learning Action Centres are closing on Friday 18th December until 4th January 2021 for the Christmas holidays.
Our Tutors will be contacting learners after Christmas to discuss how classes will be delivered from January.
Sports Centres
All our Sports Centres will close at 11.30am on Christmas Eve and will remain closed until the Welsh Government ease restrictions allowing them to reopen.
We would like to reassure everyone that ALL life membership and swim school direct debit payments will be frozen until we are able to reopen.
Swim School enrolments for our next block of swimming lessons in 2021 will remain open until 11am on 24th December and will then recommence when our facilities reopen next year. Children who are in Splash, Rookie Lifeguard and Survive & Save lessons will still receive their outstanding lessons from March 2020.
Up until Christmas Eve our timetables and opening hours will remain the same for anyone wanting to use the gym, pool or group exercise classes before we close – you can find more information on these at www.bglife.co.uk
Bedwellty House & Park
Bedwellty Park will be open daily from 8.30am – 5.30pm throughout the Christmas holidays (excluding Christmas Day when the park will be closed).
Bedwellty House and the Tea Room will remain closed from now until the new year. Our Tea Room will reopen for takeaway service only from 11am – 3pm on Tuesday 5th January.
The Registrar Service will be offering remote services from Tuesday 29th – Thursday 31st December and will resume in person appointments from Monday 4th January. You can contact them directly on 01495 353374 or email them at registrars@blaenau-gwent.gov.uk
Parc Bryn Bach
The park and play area will be open daily from 8.30am – 5.30pm (excluding Christmas Day) for visitors throughout the festive period.
The Lake View Café Kiosk will close at 4pm on Wednesday 23rd December and will reopen on Saturday 2nd January for takeaway refreshments only.
The Visitor Centre and public toilets will also be closed from 4.30pm on Wednesday 23rd December and will reopen on Saturday 2nd January.
Our golf facilities will close on 23rd December and will not reopen until the Welsh Government restrictions on golf courses are eased to allow this.
Please note that the main gates will be locked from 5.30pm each day and any vehicle left in the car parks will incur a call-out charge. To have the gates reopened after this time please call Elite Security on 07473 912330.
