Come and join Karen Owen, author of the fantastic new children’s book Major and Mynah for a FREE interactive workshop at Tredegar Library that’s suitable for children aged 5 - 11.
Major and Mynah is the first in a series of adventures with SPUD (Super Perceptive Undercover Detectives) featuring Callie, who discovers that her new hearing aids give her the unique ability to communicate with Bo the mynah bird.
In this fun workshop Karen will look at how we communicate language without using speech – together we’ll learn some interesting facts, have a go at Morse code and make some coded messages using letters, numbers and symbols.
Partially deaf with bilateral hearing aids - just like Callie in Major and Mynah - Karen will also teach some British Sign Language and children can learn how to sign their name.
Booking is essential - please call the library on 01495 357869.
“I spent my childhood travelling on adventures to imaginary worlds and fact-finding missions – all in my village library. Books are my world so I’m delighted to be part of the Summer of Fun campaign in Welsh libraries and to be able to share that passion.” - Karen Owen
This event is funded by The Reading Agency and Welsh Government Summer of Fun initiative
