Covid-19 Update: Published 13 May 2020

Following the Welsh Government's announcement we're delighted to advise our customers that we are developing plans to reopen the libraries across Blaenau Gwent.   MAALD (Museums, Archives, Arts and Libraries Division of Welsh Government) is working closely with Public Health Wales to ensure the safety of both our customers and staff to enable us to reopen our services as soon as possible.  We will continue to update you on progress and when the libraries will formally reopen.

There will be no overdue charges while our libraries are closed and extended loan periods will cover all books.

Don't forget - we offer a free e-book, e-magazine and e-audiobook service which is available online 24/7.

Update on Post Office Services at Cwm Library

Post Office services at Cwm Library will resume every Tuesday from 10am – 1pm starting from Tuesday 26th May for local residents.

Please note that there will be no library provision on these days yet as we are still finalising our plans for the safe reopening of our libraries.

Macmillan Cancer support and Blaenau Gwent libraries have developed a service to help people affected by cancer access the information they need closer to home.

Based in local libraries, we offer good quality, free information in a friendly setting in a style that suits everyone's needs.

How can we help…

Anyone worried or affected by cancer can use this free service.  This includes patients, families, friends and carers.

We provide:
  • a range of leaflets and booklets covering many aspects of cancer and treatment
  • information and signposting for benefits and financial advice
  • information about local organisations and support groups
  • information in other languages and formats
  • one-to-one support and someone to talk too

How to contact us…

We run regular drop in sessions in each library or private appointments can by made.

We can come to your nearest library and help support through difficult times.

For more information ask in your local library or contact:
