Our Aneurin Leisure Sports Development Team and Community Engagement Officer recently attended the StreetGames 2023 Network and Awards event on 17th October 2023, and were delighted to be awarded the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award 2023 for the Community Kit Room (CKR) initiative.

The award recognised the huge success of the CKR since its launch in February which has supported over 100 individuals, with 220 items of sports clothing/footwear provided to young people and adults across Blaenau Gwent.

The CKR has enabled children to join new sports clubs, help maintain children and adults' participation in sport with new playing kit and footwear, support families in need due to financial hardship, and helped people start their health and fitness journey whether exercising at home or joining a local gym.

The team welcomed the award and will continue to strive in ‘Making Sport Accessible for All’.
