Open Water Swimming at Parc Bryn Bach

Our Open Water Swim sessions at Parc Bryn Bach are now open for 2024.

Sessions are available each week on the following days:

  • Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm - 7pm

  • Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 11am

Each month there is also a special Long Course Swim, where the course is extended to 750m:

  • Thursday 23 May 6pm - 7.30pm

  • Thursday 20 June 6pm - 7.30pm

  • Thursday 18 July 6pm - 7.30pm

  • Thursday 22 August 6pm - 7.30pm

Junior swimmers aged 11 - 15 years can swim during any of these sessions but must have a parent/guardian at the park with them.

Please note that wetsuits and swim caps MUST be worn by all participants.

To ensure the safety of all participants, every open water swim session has full water safety cover, with an experienced team out on the lake around the perimeter of the swim course to offer assistance to any swimmers that need it.

Did you know that a lot of preparation goes into organising the sessions including:

  •  Dragging the lake to remove reeds from the swim course.

  • Scrubbing and cleaning the slipway mats.

  • Completing a range of water quality tests.

  • Setting out the buoys along the course.

  • Closely monitoring the water temperature, which needs to reach the minimum safe temperature (11 degrees) before we can start our season.

Please note that for safety reasons, swimming outside of these organised open water swim sessions, when we have safety cover on the lake, is strictly prohibited.
