Pregnancy Support at Aneurin Leisure
Throughout Aneurin Leisure Trust, we provide a range of services and activities to support people who are welcoming a new baby to their family.
At our three Sports Centres, we have a range of activities within our Pregnancy Pathway that provide pre-natal and post-natal sessions which are run by qualified instructors. To join our pregnancy pathway you must be referred by your doctor, midwife or health visitor. In addition to these sessions, each sports centre is equipped with baby changing facilities and provide regular weekly parent and toddler swim sessions, which are open to Life members and pay-as-you-go customers. We also provide baby swimming lessons at all three of our sports centres, with our swim school starting for children aged 4 months. For more information and pricing on our pregnancy pathway and swimming sessions please visit: Pregnancy Pathway (bglife.co.uk)
Our six Libraries across Blaenau Gwent offer a range of titles around pregnancy, which are available to borrow as books from the library or as e-Books and e-Audiobooks through the free BorrowBox app. We also work in partnership with BookTrust Cymru, by coordinating the Bookstart scheme in Blaenau Gwent - which gives a free book pack to every baby born in Wales. Packs are distributed through health visitors, or you can contact your local library if you have not received one. We also offer a borrowing scheme for babies (0-3), welcoming families to attend baby book crawls, where babies receive certificates and a free book at the end of the challenge. Furthermore, through our Sports Libraries initiative we are able to offer an exercise and pregnancy ball which can be loaned free of charge for up to 3 weeks. The ball can be used to help ease labour pain, reduce the pain of contractions, decrease anxiety and shorten the first stage of labour.
